About the Living Christmas Tree
What began in 1973 with choir members standing in a wooden tree structure boasting several hundred multicolored lights has evolved to a commercial tree structure housing over 100,000 technically controlled lights surrounded by an 85 voice choir. This year’s Living Christmas Tree presentation features an adult choir, children’s choir, live orchestra, media production and fascinating drama that tells the Christmas story.
The Living Christmas Tree’s lights bring to life the music performed by the choirs and orchestra. The lights are programmed to use color and movement to compliment the mood and tempo of the music. Building the Tree takes nearly a week. Over 30,000 individual pieces of data are programmed to create the final light show production.
This year, as in the past, five local charities have been selected to receive donations given through a free will offering at each presentation. Our generous audiences have given over $170,000 to local community charities in the past fifteen years.
We hope you’ll join us for this year’s Living Christmas Tree!
